Very much a game of two halves for the Beavers against Fulham - and something we can look at for future games to make self improvements.

I think we can be fairly pleased with a number of aspects of our first half display as we lived with opponents who have a long and illustrious IFA League history.
We looked sound defensively with the new centre back partnership of Elliott and Andrew - against an obviously potent Fulham attack. We competed hard in midfield and with Lee trying some subtle touches up front and Chris having probably his most effective half up front - giving their defenders a really tough time - overall we really gave them a game in the 1st half.

The only sour note was seeing Alfie walking off injured after he hurt his neck.

The first two goals we conceded we definitely could have done better. We had chances to clear our lines or get in a tackle but failed to do so leaving Matt with no chance in goal.
However going forward we created chances of our own before we did score.
Chris turned one defender inside and out before firing in a shot the keeper could only turn aside.
Curt also delivered a couple of excellent corners the second of which Colin was only a fraction away from getting a touch on.
We were able to get a deserved goal just before half-time when were awarded a free kick - capping an excellent 1st half reffing display by Gibbo. Up stepped Paul, who not being one for scoring a simple goal, hit it from 35 yards towards the top corner. Whereas Nashy may have saved the strike the Fulham keeper had no answer as he only helped palm the ball into the top corner.

The 2nd half though can only be summed up as disappointing. We never really got going from the moment the half kicked off. Our tackling was poor and the substitutions we made seemed to affect ourselves more than our opponents. We became disjointed and with the heavy pitch we began to come off second best. Unable to hold the ball up front the midfield and defence came under more and more pressure and it was no surprise that Fulham took advantage as they had shown a good deal of quality up front.
Their final goal was a quality strike that nobody could have done too much about.
On the positive - absolutely no-one let their heads drop and maybe we should re-examine the way we approach substitutions ourselves.
