A pretty evenly contested contest for the most part saw the Beavers dominate the early exchanges on a heavy pitch. This was rewarded when some neat interchange play saw Chris feed a perfect through ball to Paul who stuck it in the old onion bag. Colin and Paul were winning virtually everything in midfield until Paul turned his ankle after a heavy tackle and had to be carried off. This meant a bit of a reshuffle ad Farnborough began to see more of the ball - and were unlucky not to be awarded a penalty when Curt dived at the feet of an onrushing forward (probably taking more man than ball). Shame we couldn't hold on till half-time as Farnborough broke down our right and with a man over struck it past Curt who had little chance.

2nd half again saw Beavers struggling to win enough ball and it wasn't long before again we were caught on the break and Keith upended their forward in the box for a penalty, duly converted. Despite continuing to battle hard we fell further behind when we didn't clear a corner properly and a thumping volley from the edge of the box went through a crowded area - again giving Curt little chance.

With our starting forwards rested they came back on to good effect...firstly Chris tippy toed his way through a couple of tackles leaving him one on one with the keeper..but the keeper did well to save. Minutes later though we reduced the defecit when Lee from the edge of the area hit a wild volley, which would most likely have ended up in the trees behind the goal, looped into the goal (possibly an own-goal - who knows). Lee's claiming it though.

However as hard as we tried we couldn't find another way through to level.
