A dry pitch on what was a very hot day, our numbers down to nine fit/available players for this Bank Holiday friendly.

Basingstoke kindly lent us two men to enable this fixture to go ahead. A very slow start by us and we were caught napping and were soon 3-0 down. Our stand in keeper Curt not at fault.

Second half a young Basingstoke lad offered to play in goal for us and played an absolute blinder, getting us out of a lot of trouble. We were by now back in it with goals from Simmo and Macey.

Turning point came when we were 5-2 down a punt upfield by Jamie H found Dave B who through great skill held the ball well dribbled around three players layed it off to Paul H who netted with style.

In the dying seconds we won a pen and Macey slammed it into the roof of the net for his second of the day to send us away with a little pride losing by a solitary goal.

Final Score: Basingstoke FC 5 Beavers FC 4
