Ian Hodges showed again last night why Alan Devonshire snapped him up from Slough Town. The former 'Rebels' striker hit another brace as Hampton ran out 3-1 winners over Hendon.
It only took Hodges 3 minutes to put the ball into the back of the net. 'Yaks' got onto a ball behind the Hendon defence and shot low which was saved by the Hendon keeper and the ball bounced back up which he then headed against the near upright before the ball bounced out to Hodges who was lurking on the edge of the 6 yard box to stroke the rebound home. In the 37th minute Hodges had two chances to double his tally for the evening, when a Hendon defender gave away a penalty when he was adjudged to have handled the ball. Hodges took the penalty placing it to the keepers' left hand side, it was then as the ball came out and he went for the rebound that a Hendon defender bought him down. Cue the referee pointing to the spot for the second time within a minute. Hodges then again placed the ball on the spot and struck his penalty to the left again and it was saved again! After the re-start the Ex-'Rebel' soon forgot the first half by nodding in Ryan Lakes cross from close range. After this Hampton took there foot off the gas a bit and allowed Hendon back into the game in the last 20 minutes, giving the visitors a penalty which Takumi Ake put away in the 76th minute. But Hampton were not finished as the lively Henry-Hayden
came on and scored after Ian Hodges had squared the ball for him.
The Beavers stay in second spot behind Tonbridge Angels.
